Can I claim dental work on my health insurance?
Sad to say, you probably won't be able to claim dental work on your health insurance.
Basic dental treatments such as dental cleaning, installation of bridges or dentures, as well as dental implants are not included in a standard health insurance coverage. Similarly, cosmetic and elective procedures are not covered.
Most standard medical insurance plans do not cover dental services. Dental insurance will have to be bought in additional to your health coverage. However, there may be cases when dental work can be claimed under the health insurance policy, and this is when it is medically necessary to perform such dental work or that the condition being treated is life-threatening.
What you can do is check your insurance or ask your health insurance provider about the instances where dental work may be payable.
