Are braces included under my dental insurance?
It depends on the dental insurance plan you got. Some provide coverage for braces, some don't. There are also some dental insurance policies that are created solely for the purpose of covering orthodontics or braces.
It is best to ask your insurance provider what coverage they have regarding braces. You should also know the terms related to the coverage. There is usually a waiting period, as well as lifetime limits and deductibles (if these are applicable).
Most dental insurance companies that do include braces would usually just pay only for charges that are "reasonable and customary". Thus, if your dentist will charge more than what your insurance company will deem as necessary, the insurance will only pay up to the maximum limit.
To help you determine how much you will pay even with your provider covering for braces, ask your dentist for an estimate of payment.
